We welcome the newest members to the ZNZ. With knowledge, experience and a curious mind, they will certainly contribute to new insights in neuroscience.
Prof. Dr. med. Luca Regli
Research Group Leader -Department of Neurosurgery, University Hospital of Zurich
As director of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Zurich, I am involved in and play a major role in coordinating numerous research projects. To name a few examples: The research group of Jorn Fiesta investigates cerebra-vascular reactivity in relation to vascular and oncological pathologies. Annika Keller is investigating the role of pericytes, in particular their role in the neurovascular blood-brain barrier. The research group led by Marian Christoph Neider is investigating T-cell tumor antigens in brain tumors and Michael Hugelshofer is developing technologies for the detoxification of harmful hemoglobin degradation products in the cerebrospinal fluid after brain hemorrhage.
Dr. Mohamad El Amki
Junior Group Leader – Department of Neurology, University Hospital of Zurich
With my research, I am seeking to work towards an understanding of the complexity of the brain vasculature and capillary hemodynamics in health and disease. With the support of Susanne Wegener and Michael Weller at the Department of Neurology, University Hospital of Zurich, I am dedicated to leading a research program, which will address highly relevant questions in the fields of neuroscience, cerebral blood flow regulation and brain energy metabolism.
